Delivering Specialised Chemical Pipework Solutions

Project Background:
Inghams' Waitoa facility, a cornerstone of New Zealand's poultry production, recently undertook a significant upgrade to their chemical handling systems. As a facility renowned for producing free-range and barn-raised chicken products under 100% SPCA Certification standards, maintaining efficient and safe chemical management is critical to their operation.
The project involved designing and implementing a comprehensive chemical transfer system to move chemicals from storage tanks into the factory for various applications across the production floor.

1. The Challenge
The project engineers faced a complex challenge: creating a chemical transfer system that could withstand chemical exposure while maintaining long-term durability. Traditional piping solutions like PE pipe offered excellent UV resistance but lacked the necessary chemical resistance properties for this specialised application. Additionally, the installation team required specific technical knowledge to properly install and maintain a system that would meet strict food production safety standards.
2. The Solution
After careful evaluation of the project requirements, Waterworks was selected to provide specialised materials and technical support. Our team supplied over 600 meters of Sch80 PVC pipe, along with fittings, valves, and CLIC brackets. These components were specifically chosen for their superior chemical resistance properties, making them ideal for the demanding environment of chemical transfer systems.
Beyond simply providing materials, Waterworks delivered comprehensive onsite training sessions, ensuring the team was fully equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle and install the Sch80 components according to best practices.
3. The Results
The project was completed successfully, with the chemical transfer system performing to specification. The installation team shared this feedback: "Your dedication to service and technical support made a significant difference in maintaining the project's high standards and smooth workflow. It has been a pleasure working with you, and we truly value our partnership. We look forward to collaborating again in the future."
Waterworks maintains extensive stock of Sch80 PVC & CPVC pipe, fittings, valves, and brackets to suit projects of any scale. With over 10,000 available products in our inventory, we're equipped to support diverse industrial applications nationwide.
